Well, don’t say we didn’t warn you, GAME OF THRONES fans…The Damsels throw pillows, shed tears, and then resign themselves to the inevitabilty of The Red Wedding. We discuss what lousy diplomats the Starks are, if the CGI blood budget is exhausted by now, and wonder if Walder Frey is so mean because he’s bitter about being a squib. To top it all off, we’re crushed that the late Talisa won’t be part of the Badass Ladies’ Vengance League.

In other happenings, we wonder if Warg Bran will end up as Dany’s merlin and if “Faabio LongHairis” will end up in her bed. We love our newest Odd Couple Arya and the Hound, and continue to fantasize about Geoffrey’s gruesome death.

AT 19:45,we’re traveling at the speed of light to 1960s New York and MAD MEN, where Brandi gives us a shocking confession about swapping spit with Jon Hamm. We cross Ted off our dreamboat list, fantasize about Peggy and Joan’s new alliance, discuss Megan’s t-shirt (Sharon Tate or Macy’s promo?) and wonder if Bob Benson might be an alien.

PODCAST 10: A SHOT IN THE ASS

We know you all missed the timbre of our voices as much as the content from last week. We apologize for the technical difficulties that kept us from publishing a podcast.

However, the damsels are back and digging into three great episodes! Let’s start with the Nashville finale where there was so much melodrama we had to make a list of things that DIDN’T happen just to keep track of the things that did. Personally, we’d rather have Tandy’s red power blazer than Gunnar’s sad flowers any day, and all of us gave mad props to Juliette for an incredible finale performance. We can’t wait to get back to this world in the fall.

At 14:20 we switch to the biggest shit show wedding in history on Game of Thrones. The damsels couldn’t help but root for some pubes during the witchcraft/leeches/sex scene since that was the first time everyone didn’t fall asleep while Stannis was on screen – however, we had to settle for a Fabio look-alike with flowing locks.

At 23:00 we switch to the shot in the ass no one saw coming on Mad Men. Lots of laughs and insightful theories to be had about this wacky, disturbing, and entertaining episode. Hell, it’s no tractor, but it will have to do.

Looks like no one is winning Father of the Year among this motley crew of dads! If it isn’t Tywin Lannister selling his son and his daughter into unfortunate marriages, then it’s stories of Daenerys’s Mad Dad Aegon threatening to open a can of wildfire on all of King’s Landing.

Over in Mad Men land it’s no better: Ginsburg’s dad is meddling in his most personal affairs while uptown it comes as no surprise to anyone that Don doesn’t really care about his kids.

Good thing we have our fierce gals to pick up the slack: Arya diving into the middle of a trial by battle, Ygritte making a man out of Jon Snow (but not before he makes a moaning woman out of her), and Brienne baring it all in the hot tub truth machine right along with Jaime. Did we mention that Peggy makes enough money to buy herself a deluxe apartment?

And on top of it all, the Planet of the Apes is…no, we won’t spoil it for you!

This week we’re discussing Game of Thrones and Mad Men, so…

Holy Crap, people. The Damsels are still shaking from the sight of Daenerys Stormborn unleashing High Valyrian hell in the form of an 8000-strong army and one little pet dragon.

Elsewhere, we lament the fact that Season 3 of Game of Thrones is shaping up to be a gross fest, from Jaime’s chic hand pendant to Varys’s sorcerer-in-a-box. However, we won’t turn down a supercut of Joffrey being killed 18 different ways, and look forward to the spin-off series “The Spies of King’s Landing” starring Varys and Lady Olenna.

At 14:50 we ‘change the conversation’ to Mad Men and get down in the dirt with Joan and Harry. Will he make partner or head to Hollywood to produce Broadway Joe’s Variety Hour? Is there romance in the air for Dawn and Bob Benson? Is Don and Megan’s marriage going the way of the Heinz account? And enough with the flirting, already…will someone please start swinging?

So roll yourself a fat one, because tonight we’re gonna chase the dragon on this latest installment of Damsels in Discussion.

The damsels tackle last week’s jam-packed episodes of Game of Thrones, Mad Men, and Nashville.

Starting off in Westeros where the nerd anthem from the books came alive to delight of fantasy dweebs everywhere, the damsels discuss some serious brutality and the importance of Brienne’s virginity as a source of her warrior power. Then we take time to delight in the humor that lightened this dark episode. Who hasn’t been embarrassed in front of their family for missing their archery target?! Who hasn’t had a family meeting with excessive chair scraping?! And who hasn’t promised to sell their dragon but really had a trick up their sleeve?! The characters of Westeros are just like us…although they don’t go to the grocery store or have a car or bathe…but I digress.

At 12:35, we switch to discussing the latest episode of Mad Men, where our respect for Trudy and Megan goes off the charts. The damsels will never understand the sex appeal of Pete Campbell, since every pick up line he says makes us want to put on more clothes. We also wonder how pissed Jon Hamm was when he saw how hideous his younger self looked. Also, is Bob Benson secretly a son of Mitt Romney?! Just the sound of Bob’s name inspires a great round of Fuck, Marry, Kill.

Needless to say, we are all in agreement that we need MORE JOAN!

At 27:30 we switch to discussing another lackluster episode of Nashville. The rich backstory and touching hugs with Rayna and Deacon temper the repetitive story lines with Juliette and her new man-mistake of the month; however, even with the electric excitement of Deacon’s new girlfriend (Zzzzzzzzzz), we were left wanting more from the episode. However, we do have another riveting game of Fuck, Marry, Kill! We are hopeful for some better episodes coming in May after the next break and hope that they have MORE TANDY!

It’s been known to get hot on this podcast, so pour yourself a refreshing gin and tonic and enjoy this podcast that goes with just about every meal.

This week the Damsels celebrate the long-awaited return of Mad Men and marvel at the revelations of Season 6:

Don is having an affair with Lindsay Weir! Meghan is an actual soap star! Peggy is leaning in! She and Stan are besties! Ted Choaugahugh is kinda cute in a tux! And everyone is getting high!

But questions linger, and not just about what’s in the jar of fluids Roger gave to his daughter. What’s with all the new Man-Hair? Where is Betty’s rapey pillow talk coming from? And most importantly, who was that girl with the violin?

At 21:10 we move on to Game of Thrones and marvel at Margaery’s savvy, Granny Tyrell’s moxie, Sansa’s sheer terror, Brienne’s brute strength and that new girl Meera’s impressive arsenal.

So grab yourself a bowl of goulash from the hot plate and kick back for another jam-packed gabfest.

Pour yourself a glass of something strong and join us for our inaugural Damsels in Discussion podcast. We begin by discussing what TV shows we are obsessed with/hate watching/confessing that we actually watch and are tweeting to no one about, because no one else in the world watches something as lame as us. Curious, aren’t you?

At 8:12 we begin discussing Season 2 of GIRLS. Some of us love it, some of us hate it, and some us want to wear mesh shirts. The damsels gab about whether we enjoyed the “you aren’t a good friend” speech, what the correct uses are for garlic and your twat, why Adam is our favorite character, and what exactly Marnie was wearing to her ex-boyfriend’s office.

At 21:20 we switch gears and discuss this incredible season of Nashville. It has just the right amount of soapiness and deep characters for us damsels, but we just can’t get over how the two managers look exactly alike or how infuriating Rayna’s endless perfect bowls of fruit are. Also, who really gives a damn about Teddy and Peggy? No one. The answer is no one. But our love for Juliette, Rayna, and Scarlett knows no bounds, and we are one second away from writing fan letters.

Podcast 11 (Season 5, Episode 12) WE’VE COME A LONG WAY, BABY

The Femmes wrap up Season 5 with a finale that began with high expectations but ended leaving us, like Stan, bored with this dynamic.

There were some awesome moments: Peggy bossing around her junior copywriters in a fabulous new red suit, Joan taking charge of the partners’ meeting and the spray paint, Roger and Marie, Roger and his ass, dog pornography, and the partners contemplating their future on their new second floor in the best shot of the episode.

Unfortunately, the two main storylines, Megan’s acting career and Pete & Beth’s non-chemistry, were our least favorite of the season, and our girl Sally was nowhere to be seen. Maybe she popped a Midol and hid under the couch again.

As we ponder Season 6 (Will Megan leave Don for Hollywood? Will Peggy rule the world? Will Dawn get a storyline of her own?) we leave you with one of our favorite lines of Season 5: “One day your little girl will spread her legs and fly away.”

We’ll see you next season. In the meantime join us as we sail back to Downton Abbey for their new season.

Peggy and Lane both make their exits, Peggy elegantly and Lane not so much. Sally becomes a woman. Kenny becomes a man. Meghan gets a new audition dress.

How will it all end next week? One thing’s for sure: There will be blood.
